[ his smile is strained for a moment, before he looks to the side. jack turns from a crow to a wolf, but still sticking close to flat's side. ]
Suriel didn't look like they liked what happened...and Baraqiel too. I'm not sure who would choose something like that when they could have just put Qi Rong in some sort of jail.
[ a violent maniac???? among them? and their name isn't qi rong? ]
I mean... maybe if you know some martial arts? I mean, you've gone down to the Underworld, so I'm sure you could stop a violent maniac?
[ wait. ]
Isn't there a cell separating the prisoner? Why were they let in? I know that Qi Rong did something bad, but that probably counts as cruel and unusual, no?
I don't remember there being any separation... He was just in the room, curled up in the corner and laughing to himself. [ Eh. ] To me, it isn't cruel or unusual, but seeing that everyone cared to seek a culprit and uphold justice, it is somewhat taciturn.
I don't know a lot about justice, but it...really didn't feel that great huh? [ he says it in a neutral tone, not unhappy but...obviously not his normal cheerful tone. ] Like a game that has a downer ending.
Haha, not exactly. We mages have something called a Holy Grail War, where people fight to get the Grail. It’s supposed to be this cool wish-granting device that the winner obtains, but only after killing everyone else.
[ he smiles, breathing out a sigh. ]
So it’s kind of a killing game, yep. Without the trials.
See, that's the thing, nobody really knows! But mages kill each other for it. Even my Professor's professor died because of it.
[ and he says it as if he were talking about the weather. ]
I was actually participating in one, but not because I had a wish-- I just wanted to see it for myself. And I originally thought that instead of fighting, we could work together to get to that common goal-- but some of them just seemed more interested in the whole killing thing and it was a huge issue before I arrived here.
Of course! If people were going to go out of their way to obtain it, then it's definitely something that's worth seeing! And I thought that I would not only go see it, but that maybe I could befriend all of the other Masters--they're, like, the participants--and we could be super powerful and change the world!
Though it turns out that was a lot harder than I thought. People really enjoy fighting each other and destroying things...

But I did make some friends. Sure, we had to fight against what I think might have been the concept of Death and some weird vampire that was really into someone that I don't think was really into him, but we survived and even saved people.
Death is something that’s always been around me, sir. I wouldn’t say I’m afraid of it…I mean, you kinda have to get used to it when your parents try to kill you a lot but-
[ he says that extremely casually. but he considers the other question with a care that’s almost unlike him. ]
I do have a reason to live, though! I really like living because…it’s fun to live. I like waking up every day and seeing that the world hasn’t been destroyed in my sleep, and then I can go hang out with my classmates and my professor. Every new day is like a gift, you know? You never know what to expect—I love that!

[ He recognizes it is Flat, the little weirdo, but only Niah looks over. The wolf daemon watches for a bit then looks back to the spot. ]
It feels like all of this was intended.
[ And he doesn’t like that? ]

[ That is the only answer he can piece together right now. Niah's tail swishes back and forth, agitated. ]
... The jail was barely anything. When I visited him, he was already badly beaten.

[ what the fuck??? even flat is shocked. ]
Did he tell you who did that to him?

There must be some limitations to it. I find it hard to believe it can grant all wishes.

Then that's enough. If you want to keep waking up and having fun, then try to be careful.

But I want to find a way to help, too. So that we can find a good solution to everything that’s happening. Is that okay?

I'll do what I think is best.

If we can unite at least some people on both sides, we may have a chance at finding something closer to a Happy End.
