[There's a pause. No more than ten seconds or so pass without a response but, short as it seems to Diarmuid in his agitated state, it surely feels like longer to Flat. By all rights, he should be annoyed at the both of them and yet...
No, he can't. He just can't be angry, not when, in a stark and peculiar contrast to his usual verve, Flat sounds so defeated; there's no admonishment he could give that could be worse than what he's probably giving himself. It isn't his place anyway. Diarmuid sighs.]
