Just because you allegedly lack housekeeping skills, it doesn't mean you can't make somebody very happy someday. I know somebody whose dearest wish was to be a bride, and her cooking was so terrible it literally damaged me on a spiritual level.
Would you like to meet? I think I have something that might cheer you up, a little bit.
Well, all of my friends have tried to kill me at one point or another, so I can at least promise it's going to take a lot to scare me.
That's fine. If you have any questions or you're confused about something, I don't mind helping you figure out what the missing link is between your logic and other people's, but we could just talk about simple things, if you like.
Do you feel like eating, or moving your body, or sitting somewhere quiet?
[She sifts her way through the streets at a quick, smooth pace to meet him, keeping the umbrella attached to her wrist by its cord tucked in tight. She didn't like the looks of that Mareuer sky on the way over.]
[ flat beams up at her, but his smile is...just a little forced. like he's trying to convince himself that things are alright and he's not upset at all.
he grips the umbrella a little tighter, but speaks with a chirp in his voice. ]
Oh, before we get started; you like experiments, right?
[she digs into her purse and hands a little trinket to him.]
I've taken up needle felting lately, and I'm trying to put fae charms on some of what I make. It's been pretty hit or miss so far... with a lot more 'misses' than 'hits'. ...sorry it's not totally green.
Flat’s fine! [ he giggles ] It’s not my real name, anyways, so really you could call me anything you want! But I prefer Flat.
[ he takes a look at the felt candle again, his smile still from ear to ear. whatever he felt because of the request that cu made seems to have dissipated, even in the miserable, cloudy weather. ]
So what’s it like to be a faerie? Can you fly yet?
[She does a little turn for him, fluttering her wings his way and letting him get a good look; they only emend about three inches out when flattened against her spine.]
No, not yet. These need to get a little bigger before I can do that. What's your favorite type of magic you've learned since coming here?
[ despite how small the wings are, flat seems rather impressed, even clapping as she turns and flutters her wings. ]
Monsters really are cool! But uhm...hm, I think illusion magic is my favorite. But there's so much stuff to learn! I'm kinda just picking up whatever I can you know?
[That's way more flattering than it ought to be, but Hakuno falls back into step with him wearing a small, warm smile all the same.]
I've heard Fae can be good at that. I might hit you up for some tutoring whenever I can finally use that, if you don't mind. I definitely understand what you mean about learning whatever you can; I didn't have time for anything before I came here. And now... well, now I'm learning about needle felting and cooking and gardening and new magic and whatever else I can find time for. Even the violin.
Woah...I read about it in the chat. [ sorry he's an eavesdropper. ] So being in this sort of place must be super freeing! Now you can pretty much do whatever you want, whenever you want!
[ it's a feeling that he can actually relate to, though only a little. it was in the clock tower when he felt that sort of freedom--in aefenglom, he actually feels more restricted.
not that he minds too much, though. it's still an interesting time. ]
What's something that you still want to do? Like, what's next on your list?
Yes. It leaves me more than a little spoiled for choice but it's...
[She blows out a breath, laughter fraying at the edges.]
It's wonderful. A little scary when I stop to think about it, and being changed, being dragged in; it's not my first choice, but ... yeah. Pretty wonderful.
[Her wings beat a bit faster.]
Next... well, I might try learning how to dance, honestly.
[ flat smiles as they walk, looking up at the gloomy skies--they don't ruin his mood in the least. ]
If you ever need help, I can try to teach you! I had to learn to dance for social events and what not, so I can do a pretty good waltz. But sometimes, it's better to just move with the music, you know?
Somewhat? The Clock Tower is super into aristocratic stuff and whatever, so there were always some sort of fancy event going on.
[ flat finds those a bit stuffy actually. except many of the ones that he ended up going (with his professor and other classmates) usually ended up in disaster-- not always his fault. ]
But I have a friend...he owns a casino on a ship, you see? And going there is always super fun, so I've gone to a lot of events there!

I'll meet you outside the tea shop, then? That seems like a good street to start on.
text -> action
i'll be waiting for you, then!
[ and certainly enough, flat will be there outside the tea shop, looking around for hakuno. ]

...hey there. Sorry, were you waiting long?

[ flat takes the little thing in his hand, staring at it with wide eyes for a second.
and then he smiles, overjoyed. she might as well have gotten him literal gold. ]
This. is so cute! Thank you, Miss Hakuno! It’s amazing!! Aw man, I definitely have to give you something too, sometime! Thank you!
no subject
[Flat's... actually lucky! This one has a weak charm for promoting good dreams on it.]
You can just call me Hakuno, if you like. Or, should I be calling you Mr. Flat?

[Games of chance and probability and sly, near-cheating strategy... with Flat's brand of chaos died in, things have to get crazy.]
If you don't count the festival's here, I've... never actually been to a party.
