You don't need to learn how to deal with this sort of thing properly. Sometimes, a "sorry" will be enough. For Mr. Rochalizo, I wouldn't suggest sending something such as a stuffed animal, some flowers, a handwritten note, and possibly an item of jewelry, too. The note is not mandatory. I really hope you don't understand.
